Regional Summit 2011                            Friday, October 28, 2011

How are we achieving a future that is better than ‘business as usual’ for North Texas?

Since the release of North Texas 2050 at the Vision North Texas Regional Summit 2010, leaders and experts around the region have worked together through the Vision North Texas partnership to start making the vision and recommendations of North Texas 2050 a reality.

North Texas 2050 reflects the ideas and recommendations of people who have spent thousands of hours participating in Vision North Texas because they are concerned about the future of our region. Participants from 16 counties, representing many diverse interests, all contributed to this important new vision for our region. In addition, North Texas 2050 has been shaped by research and the experience of experts in transportation, land use and development, housing, the environment, health and all the other issues that will determine how livable and successful North Texas will be in the coming decades.

If you joined us on the morning of October 28, 2011 at the University of Texas at Arlington’s University Center for the Vision North Texas Regional Summit 2011, thank you. We shared the results of the work that has been done since the release of North Texas 2050 and came up with dozens of new ideas.

The Summit began with a breakfast and keynote speaker, Richard Florida, as well as local presenters sharing highlights of the North Texas 2050 annual report. Following the breakfast and speakers, attendees participated in Action Team break-out sessions that focused on specific work products and accomplishments since the release of North Texas 2050. Break-out sessions included brief presentations followed by Q&A. This gave participants the opportunity to interact, provide input and become involved in the process.
